Welcome to the Saving Cities podcast. In each episode, a member of our team hosts a conversation with an expert in a place-related field, from Accessibility to Zoning, and everything in between.
Join us as host Diane Larusso (Saving Cities, A Curated Experience) talks with happy black man and professional gay, Densil Porteous. Over a six-week period earlier this year, Densil was named CEO of Pride Fund 1, a new effort launched last year by Columbus-based venture firm Loud Capital; then, he was appointed the interim executive director of Stonewall Columbus, the legacy LGBTQ advocacy organization looking to find its path forward amid lingering challenges; and finally, Densil was appointed to the 16-citizen working group tasked with developing plans for a civilian review board to provide oversight to the city’s police division in the aftermath of protests over the murder of George Floyd.
Aware of the importance of his less-discussed role-- that of representing black, professional people as incredibly competent, exemplary leaders, who not only CAN but SHOULD be included at decision-making tables-- Densil’s a guy with a lot on his shoulders... but he carries it joyfully, and is surely inspiring many who’ll follow in his footsteps.
