Show Notes

Welcome to the Saving Cities podcast. In each episode, a member of our team hosts a conversation with an expert in a place-related field, from Accessibility to Zoning, and everything in between.

Join us as host Jack Storey (Saving Cities, Proud Places) talks with international rock star of placemaking, Dr. Katherine Loflin (The City Doctor + Author of 'Place Match'). Dr. Loflin led a national effort, supported by the Knight Foundation, from 2008-10 that helped 26 US cities quantify their citizens' attachment to their places (yup, quantify). She now runs her own consultancy as the City Doctor.

The aforementioned project, Soul of the Community, has been held up as a model for how we can start to seriously assess attachment and its impact on community and economic development. We will discuss how Dr. Loflin and her team came up with this process, how it was/is implemented, and - most importantly - what can be done with the information gathered to make real, tangible change in your community.
